Frequently asked questions

What does LiveStreamCC do?

It transcribes spoken audio on your computer into subtitles in real time. Streamers can show captions on their own broadcast, and viewers can add captions to a live stream that doesn't provide any.

What's the difference between the two modes?

Streamer mode captions your microphone while you broadcast and sends the result to OBS, an overlay, or a dedicated window. Viewer mode captures your system audio and shows captions locally for whatever you're watching.

What platforms does it support?

LiveStreamCC is a desktop app for Windows 10/11 (64-bit), available on the Microsoft Store. macOS and iOS versions are coming soon.

How do I download it?

Get it from the Microsoft Store — it installs in one click and stays up to date automatically. Prefer a direct download? The code-signed installer is also on our releases page. The walkthrough below covers install and first-session setup end to end.

Install & setup walkthrough A 3½-minute guide from download to your first captioned session.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Every new account starts with a two-week trial that includes 25 caption hours and unlocks every paid feature — live translation, speaker labels, OBS and streaming-app output, dual audio, cloud sync, transcript search, AI summaries and subtitle exports. No credit card is needed: create an account in the app and the trial starts on its own.

What happens when the trial ends?

Nothing to cancel and nothing to pay. When your 25 hours run out or the two weeks are up — whichever comes first — your account moves to the free tier, which keeps 10 caption hours a month. Your transcripts stay with you, and the paid-only features simply switch off until you choose a plan. You can pick one at any point during or after the trial from Settings → Subscription.

Does it cost anything?

After the two-week trial there is a free tier with 10 caption hours per month. Paid plans add more hours and features: Plus at $13.99/mo, Streamer at $24.99/mo, and Streamer Pro at $59.99/mo, with a discount for annual billing and one-time hour top-ups if you run long in a busy month. See the pricing page for the full comparison.

Which languages can it caption?

LiveStreamCC detects the spoken language automatically at the start of a session, transcribes in that language, and lets you lock a language manually if you prefer.

Can I use it with OBS?

Yes. Captions can be sent to an OBS browser source, shown as a transparent always-on-top overlay, or displayed in a dedicated window you can capture.

How is my data handled?

Your audio is streamed through our backend to a third-party speech-to-text provider to generate captions, and transcripts are saved locally on your device by default. The full details are in our privacy policy.

Can it translate captions?

Yes, on a paid plan. LiveStreamCC can show your captions in another language in real time, and you can choose to display the translation only, the original only, or both together.

Can it tell speakers apart?

On a paid plan, LiveStreamCC can label who's speaking — Speaker 1, Speaker 2, and so on — live and in the saved transcript, which helps with interviews and multi-person streams.

Can I caption my mic and my PC audio at once?

Yes, with dual audio on a paid plan. Caption your microphone and your desktop audio together, shown as two labeled lines or merged into a single caption stream. Headphones are recommended so your mic doesn't re-capture the PC audio.

Where are my transcripts stored?

By default, transcripts are saved locally on your own device. Paid plans can optionally sync them across your devices, and you can auto-delete them on a schedule, export all your data, or delete your account at any time.

How do I sign in?

You can create an account with email, or sign in with Twitch, Google, or a passkey. Two-factor authentication with recovery codes is available, and Viewer mode lets you start captioning without an account at all.

How do I cancel or change my plan?

Open Settings → Subscription in the app to upgrade, downgrade, or cancel. Cancelling stops future renewals — you keep your plan's features until the end of the period you've already paid for. Payments are handled by Stripe, and you can manage your payment method from the same screen.
